Original Mexican Mid-19th Century Era Bronze Mortar Shell Found at Fort Michoacán - Rare Flintlock Pistols and do not recommend anyOriginal Item. Only One Available. This is an outstandingly rare piece of ordnance, a Mexican American War period Mexican bronze mortar shell. Bronze construction is indicative of Mexican Artillery shells of this era. The shell weighs 5. 6 pounds, and is roughly 5 in diameter. We checked the interior of the round, and there looks to be the original wooden plug sitting around some packing peanuts. The wooden plug could certainly be removed and wedged
